Return of the Eagle
The over use of dangerous pesticides in the 1970s drove many species to near extinction. Through aggressive conservation programs, the last decade has seen the return of the majestic eagle on the Upper Mississippi River Valley. During the winter, literally hundreds can be viewed hunting near the river's numerous dams.
